Aluminium foil, tissue paper, pieces of elastic, glue, glitter, sticky tape, different coloured felt-tipped pens
Step by step
* Cut out a piece of tissue paper so it resembles the shape of butterfly wings.
* Get the children to decorate the wings as they wish using felt-tipped pens and glitter.
* Crumple a piece of aluminium foil into an oval shape.
* Spread some glue over the top of the oval shape and carefully attach the wings to the butterfly's body.
* Then attach a length of elastic to the top of the butterfly with sticky tape.
* Hold the butterfly by the elastic and gently bounce it up and down. The tissue will give the impression that the butterfly is floating.
* You can also tie a collection of butterflies to a hoop and suspend them from the ceiling.
* We would love to hear your tip ideas!
