Calm in the crisis

I am writing to publicly thank all 150 Westminster Children's Society staff who coped so admirably after the London bombings. About one-third of our staff were coming into work, mostly using public transport, when the bombs went off. As soon as they realised there were problems, they did their best to let their colleagues know what was happening and where they were. Those already at work kept the children safe.

Staff remained calm, even though we have three nurseries on Edgware Road, two nurseries above a tube station and the rest in high-risk areas.

WCS has a high level of children from different cultures. Many of our children are from Muslim families. Throughout the events, staff showed consistent care and support for each other, the children and their families.
