Case Study

Name: Lee Grant Age: 23
Name: Lee Grant

Age: 23

Locations visited: Austria, Canada, France, Italy and Lapland

Company: Esprit Holidays

Season: Both

Job title: Area childcare manager for Austria and the Dolomites

Typical day: Going out and observing the staff and children enjoying themselves in a safe environment. I pass on my feedback to the team.

Qualifications: BTec National Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management.

Best experience and skills gained: I had a job in catering, but I saw that the childcare staff seemed to be having more fun. I definitely feel I made the right decision in crossing over. Having many members of staff to organise and take care of is one of the most valuable experiences. I had to learn how to communicate effectively.

Glad you took: DVD player.

Wish you had taken: None.

Pluses: I do not have enough space to write the pluses. This is the best job. You get to travel, work with children, ski on your time off, a great social life, meet lots of friends every season and get away from England.

Minuses: Limited time spent with family, but mainly not being able to watch Queens Park Rangers football club each week.

Advice: Don't be nervous; go with your instincts. There are plenty of others in your shoes and I pretty much guarantee that you would have the best time of your life.

Would you do it again? Try and stop me.
