Unwanted CDs (free internet ones are great) candles glue clay various decorative materials such as tinsel, glitter, shiny paper

Step by step

* Get the children to roll a piece of clay into a ball. When they have done this, get them to make an indentation in the middle with their finger.

* Now get the children to place a candle in the middle and mould the clay so that the candle fits snugly, but make sure it does not get stuck. Then remove the candle.

* Glue the clay pot to the centre of the CD.

* When dry, the children can decorate the CD in any way they choose with the glitter, small pieces of tinsel and so on.
