Celebrate playday on 6 August

Any play setting wanting to participate in this year's Playday 2003 can do so with the help of low cost information packs and posters from The Children's Play Council (see address below). Playday 2003 is a great occasion for after-school clubs, open access play settings and early years development and childcare partnerships to celebrate their local projects. Playday is the largest annual play event in the country and celebrates the importance of play for children and young people. On Wednesday 6 August, 100,000 children will be participating in a UK-wide range of events in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England through the help of local organisations that are members of the Children's Play Council.

The theme this year is 'Get Out and Play' and the Children's Society will announce the results of commissioned research into children's experience of outdoor play on the day. Seven thousand 5-11-year-olds and 1,500 11-18-year-olds took part in research carried out by Young Voice, a charity based in Surrey.
