Child protection services review

Child protection services in Scotland are to undergo a three-year reform programme. The Scottish Executive announced the review following the publication of a damning report which found that half of the children at risk of abuse or neglect are not being adequately cared for. A team of experts will work directly with local agencies to implement the reforms and tackle poor performance. Minister for education and young people Cathy Jamieson said, 'At the moment too many children get lost in the system. Closer co-operation is needed between all agencies working with children and families.' The report, It's everyone's job to make sure I'm all right, is available on www.scotland.gov.uk.
