Childcare costs for nurses and midwives will be subsidised by the Scottish Executive as part of a 1m initiative aimed at encouraging them to return to work. Under the Return to Practice programme, each nurse or midwife who goes back to work will be eligible for a 1,500 grant covering expenses such as course fees, travel and childcare. The programme has been running in six pilot areas and is being rolled out across Scotland over the next two years.
