Childcare month signs up activities

More than 600 day nurseries, childminding networks, pre-schools and playgroups, and local authorities across the UK have signed up for activities to highlight the first-ever National Childcare Month in June. Organised by the Daycare Trust, Kids' Clubs Network, the National Childminding Association, the National Day Nurseries Association and the Pre-School Learning Alliance, the month aims to ensure the subject of childcare is high on the nation's agenda by celebrating its growth and highlighting its benefits.

National Childcare Month, supported by the Department for Education and Skills, will see national childcare organisations involved in thousands of activities across the country, such as a conference on how businesses can develop family-friendly policies for staff. Local events will vary from the unveiling of the design of a new Neighbourhood Nursery to recruitment drives promoting careers in childcare.
