Consider the source

I would be interested to see what procedures the day nurseries that are the victims of so many false accusations have in place for disciplining their staff (Letters, 13 October). Are these false accusations due to unfair treatment of staff? Having an open system whereby staff and clients can report bad practice will lead to some false accusations, but I would argue that well-founded accusations will outnumber the false accusations. I would add that just because Ofsted could not substantiate an allegation, it does not mean it did not happen, for how many times do the authorities not pursue cases for lack of evidence?

The system is there to protect children, and not the owners of settings.

Putting together the type of work childcare involves and the current propensity to litigate for the most absurd reasons, one wonders that there are not more complaints.
