Free with this week's issue is the first in a new series of posters based on stories from around the world. Each includes a version of a story intended for telling rather than reading, along with a beautiful colour illustration by children's book artist Laura Hambleton and suggestions for related activities and resources. Stories are an ideal way to promote the global dimension in early years settings, and we believe this will be a very collectible series.

Our pull-out partwork series this year, written by Jane Drake, gives guidance on promoting quality provision in the Foundation Stage. The first part is published on 19 January and focuses on the environment. New activity page features include regular gardening tips and ICT ideas.

And don't miss the next Nursery Topics on 26 January, on the theme of animals.
