It was great to meet so many Nursery World readers at the Early Years and Primary Teaching Exhibition at London's Business Design Centre last weekend. Everybody had a wonderful time checking out all the resources and equipment on show, and attending the popular seminars to update their skills. Most visitors left laden with bags of purchases, information and catalogues, with their legs aching, but having had a very satisfying day. Our 31 October issue will have a full report with lots of pictures, so look out for that.

Our 31 October issue will have a full report with lots of pictures, so look out for that.

This week's Nursery World is also packed with articles to help early years practitioners do their jobs to the best of their ability. Our curriculum series continues with a look at how to promote communication, language and literacy outdoors, while the rewards of cooking with disabled children are explored in our special needs feature. The ins and outs of the Foundation Stage consultation are examined in a special report.

And there's also the latest Out of School supplement, which has become a must-read for all playworkers and managers of after-school services. This edition includes advice on fund-raising, information about the new playwork NVQ, and activities for Halloween.
