We believe that integration in the early years is a process of cultural negotiation and should not be one of forced assimilation.

Children may at times choose to play with those whom they feel comfortable with, as part of their identity and as a sense of belonging and connection.

This is acceptable alongside positive engagement with other children and adults from different backgrounds, whether cultural, racial, faith or beliefs, disabled or non-disabled.

We argue that integration must go in tandem with anti-racism and equality.
