Every school in Northern Ireland has been linked up to Broadband, providing more than 350,000 children and staff with access to e-mail, messaging and conferencing facilities, the Department of Education said last week. Launching the C2K/Hewlett Packard Data Centre, which links up individual school networks, education minister Barry Gardiner said, 'C2K is the most ambitious project of its kind in the UK, and one of the most comprehensive in the world. It is a tremendous opportunity for schools and pupils to work together and to share ideas.' All 1,200 schools across the Province have been supplied with individual networks and almost 40,000 workstations that provide access to more than 200 educational software titles designed to directly support the Northern Ireland curriculum.
