Farewell to 'temporary' nursery after 67 years

A Lancashire nursery school is moving into permanent premises for the first time, 60 years after opening in a building that was meant to be its temporary home.

Duke Street Nursery School, in the market town of Chorley, will saygoodbye to a building that was constructed during the Second World Warand move into the new purpose-built Duke Street Children's Centre, justacross the yard from the old site.

Lancashire now has a network of over 60 Children's Centres.

Duke Street Nursery School, which has around 80 pupils, is staging afarewell party this Thursday (6 November) before moving ten dayslater.

Now it's conducting a search for former pupils, inviting them to go backto their old classrooms and take part in the farewell.

The school they will leave was built as World War II raged in 1941. Itis being demolished.
