They give practical advice on how to deal with a multitude of situations that childminders face daily and promote a professional approach toward registered childminding.

However, the breadth of the subject has resulted in some errors and omissions. Some information about the process of registration could be misleading if used as a main source of reference. Issues such as the Data Protection Act need to be highlighted for the protection of children and carers. Childminders must be knowledgeable about current legislation and also areas such as food hygiene and disability discrimination.
