DIFFERENT DICE

When providing games where dice are needed, think about what experiences children have had or need with numbers, and how different kinds of dice can suit different purposes.

Use a dice with spots arranged in a conventional pattern to encourage pattern recognition. Use a dice with scattered spots to necessitate counting. Or use a dice with numerals to encourage number recognition.

Younger children may need to use dice numbered just up to 3, but older or more confident children can cope with dice numbered to 6, or even 9.
