Local authorities in Scotland have been awarded Pounds 180m over the next three years to improve the quality of life in communities, including schemes to benefit children. The cash follows grants of 95m made for the same purpose earlier this year. Minister for finance and public services Andy Kerr praised a range of schemes already under way across Scotland, including the upgrading of children's play areas in Perth and Kinross, investment in breakfast clubs in West Dunbartonshire and the provision of free swimming lessons in Aberdeen.
