Guide focuses on age two

Specialised guidance developed to address practitioners' concerns that two-year-olds have so far been overlooked has been published by the Pre-School Learning Alliance. Making their day - Providing for two-year-olds in mixed-age settings aims to fill a gap in resources specific to this age group, and help pre-schools and full daycare settings to develop good practice with children from two to five years old.

Although the pack is not a curriculum, it aims to link the Birth to Three Matters framework to the Curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage.

It includes photocopiable pull-outs of questionnaires, action plan templates and formats to help with planning. There are seven colour posters highlighting aspects of two-year-olds' learning linked to the Birth to Three Matters framework and a chart linking the direction of development for 'walkers, talkers, pretenders' towards the 'stepping stones' of the Foundation Stage.
