All four- and five-year-olds in England and Wales will receive free
books this September as part of the initiative Booktime.

hairy-maclaryIndependent charity Booktrust, in partnership with learning company Pearson, has announced that a copy of Lynley Dodd's Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy, published by Puffin, will be given to all 730,000 children in Reception in 2014-2015.

Children in England will also receive a copy of Go to Bed by Emma Lynch, while Welsh four- and five-year-olds will receive a Welsh-language title.

Peter Hughes, director of corporate responsibility at Pearson, said, 'Reading is fundamental to learning and, in today's modern world, to living. Booktrust, Pearson and Puffin hope this gift will help unlock a wonderful world of stories.'
