High levels of activity in the day nursery market

High levels of activity in the day nursery market have been reported by property agent Dowling Kerr. Its business development manager Andre Coulter said, 'Business sales in June were extremely active. At the present time we are dealing with more than 75 nurseries across the UK. Excellent prices are being achieved and generally prices have increased over the past 12 to 18 months due to the "feelgood factor" within the industry, reinforced by a strong and buoyant property market and the availability of excellent financing packages which allow existing business people within the industry to refinance and expand.' Recent sales include the Little Acorns Nursery in Ealing, London, marketed for 250,000 leasehold and sold to Toad Hall nursery group in early June; the Lilliput Farm Day Nursery in Sandbach, Cheshire, a period property sold for an undisclosed figure based on an asking price of 485,000 freehold; and the Piccolo Nursery in Pudsey, West Yorkshire, put on the market for 205,000 leasehold.
