In brief...Angry Leicestershire parents

Angry Leicestershire parents whose three-year-old children are set to lose their childcare places from January - after the local council underestimated demand for provision - are to deliver a petition to 10 Downing Street on 23 November in a bid to get the prime minister to intervene. They also plan to deliver paintings by every three-year-old child in the county. Amanda Watson, a single parent whose son is set to lose his place, said, 'So far there has been no movement by the Government but we won't stop fighting for our children's places.' About 560 children in the county are thought to be affected. Donations in support can be made by contacting Ms Watson on 0116 277 7069.
