Enquire, the national service for special educational needs in Scotland, has recently launched a pilot mediation scheme operating in five local authority areas. The scheme, in Argyll and Bute, East Dunbartonshire, Glasgow City, Stirling and South Lanarkshire, aims to resolve disagreements between families and professionals regarding provision for a child's special educational needs. Volunteer mediators are being used to promote effective working relationships between families and professionals.
