Inspectors praise playgroups for their communication with parents

Playgroups and nurseries have received glowing praise for their work with parents in the latest batch of registration inspection reports published by HM Inspectors of Schools. Panmure Playgroup in Monifieth was recognised for being well supported by the parents' playgroup committee. The parents assist regularly on a rota basis. The report said, 'They worked very well in partnership and together ensured the smooth day-to-day running of the group.'

Staff at Ladybird Playgroup in Arbroath, Angus, were found to be keeping parents informed through the use of a 'very helpful introductory pack', noticeboard, photographs, newsletters and daily informal contact. Parents at the Pink Panther Playgroup in Inverness gave excellent support through committee work, regular fundraising and help in play sessions. The playleader was commended for being committed to developing the quality of provision. The report said, 'She was well respected and had established positive relationships with children, parents and staff.'
