'Integrate help for children'

<P> Childcare providers need to work more closely with professionals from other fields such as health and social work to make sure that young children and their families receive the services they need, according to a report published earlier this week. </P>

Childcare providers need to work more closely with professionals from other fields such as health and social work to make sure that young children and their families receive the services they need, according to a report published earlier this week.

For Scotland's children - Better integrated children's services pays tribute to initiatives which have already pioneered such an approach, such as New Community Schools and Sure Start. However, it finds that co-ordination of services is not widespread, that there is a shortage of skills in working with families and that the Scottish Executive's policy is seen as insufficiently integrated. The Scottish Executive is to appoint a ministerial task force to drive forward work to tackle the issues raised.
