Integrated community schools

Integrated community schools have been successful in supporting vulnerable children, encouraging more active pupil and parental involvement, and increasing the range of activities during and after school, says the Scottish Executive. Research by London University into phase one of the community school pilots, whose aims include improving links between education, health and social services in childcare, show that more vulnerable children have been able to stay in mainstream education. The Executive has committed more than 37m to the five-year project and will spend nearly 78m spreading the approach to all schools.
