Investing for Health strategy in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland marked its Investing for Health strategy last week with a conference highlighting efforts to tackle problems of poverty, social exclusion, mental health and emotional wellbeing. Dr Jane Wilde, director of the Institute of Public Health, told the conference, 'This is the first time in Northern Ireland that we have had a health plan which brings together such a diverse range of people.' Initiatives launched under the strategy include providing fresh fruit daily to 4,800 children in 87 primary schools in disadvantaged areas.
