Kathleen Marshall

Scotland's first commissioner for children and young people has taken up her post in Edinburgh. Kathleen Marshall last week announced that her office will consult on issues including child protection, earlier intervention by agencies, drug abuse in family units, teenage pregnancy, health, homelessness and antisocial behaviour. She said that tackling them would require 'a sea change in people's attitudes to our younger citizens in Scotland'. Ms Marshall will have the power to review laws, policy and services to assess their effectiveness.
