KidSmart Early Learning programme

Computers are to be installed in more nurseries in disadvantaged areas across Scotland over the coming year. Sixty computer centres will be set up under the KidSmart Early Learning programme, launched by IT company IBM. Nicol Stephen, deputy minister for education, said, 'Computer skills can be developed from an amazingly early age. Children need access to the right resources to develop the skills of the future. This scheme will help us to bridge the digital divide and give very young children a bright, stimulating, imaginative way to learn.'
