Leadership in the early years and playwork sectors is the theme of a conference in central London later this year. 'Leading the way', on 9 October, is being organised by the National Day Nurseries Association with the support of the Sure Start Unit. NDNA chief executive Rosemary Murphy said, 'We need to inspire a generation of leaders to deliver the integrated services of the future. The Government spending review targets of 250,000 additional places in England by 2006 and the development of integrated services will only be achievable with robust leadership from grassroots upwards.' Conference topics include 'Why early years needs leaders', 'Developing the next generation of business leaders', and 'The heart of leadership - How to lead a successful home and business life'.
