STAR LETTER - TRAINING PROVIDERS RAISE THE BAR

I was interested to read the article 'Training providers not up toscratch' (online 30 January). However, I think it gives an unfairimpression of the training available in the early years sector, especially that delivered by training providers.

I have delivered work-based early years training for 15 years, and overthat time I have seen many changes in the qualification standards, funding and delivery models. I recognise some of the shortfallssuggested and, had the statements been made a few years ago, I perhapswould have agreed. But I believe all training providers in the last fewyears have had to seriously up their game.

As the managing director of a small training provider I am passionateabout delivering high quality training. In a recent Ofsted inspection, our teaching was graded one; our achievement figures were recognised asbeing 10 per cent above the national average; staff were seen as wellqualified and regularly completing good and effective CPD activities;there was excellent use of information and learning technologies, excellent embedding of equality and diversity, and highly effectivesupport for learners.
