Make a splash

Explore the world under the water with an exciting new Foundation Stage project by nursery school headteacher Ann Adb El Kader This project provides opportunities for children to learn about marine life in a way that will engage their curiosity and imagination, and let them experiment and have fun.

This project provides opportunities for children to learn about marine life in a way that will engage their curiosity and imagination, and let them experiment and have fun.

Its three primary learning objectives are:

* to develop children's awareness of what lives under the sea * to develop vocabulary and enable children to use the words appropriately * to encourage individuality and creativity through curiosity and experimentation.

The main themes relate to marine life, but the project could easily be extended to look at people working on or near the sea, harbours, boats and lighthouses. Ideas on making these are given throughout the project.
