MBE for Irene Audain

Irene Audain, chief executive of the Scottish Out-of-School Care Network, received an MBE for services to out-of-school care in Scotland in last weekend's Queen's Birthday Honours list. Mary Bernadette Munden, a nursery nurse at Claremont School in Bristol, also received the MBE for services to special needs education. Other honours included OBEs for Roy Belford Walker, principal childcare manager, for services to young people in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Anne Jessie Mackenzie Morris, lately head of Fife Educational Service, for services to children with sensory impairments, and Anne Fine, children's laureate, for services to literature. Deryk Mead, chief executive of children's charity NCH, received a CBE.
