Characters from the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton are to return tothe screen as adults in a new television series, said The Times. Julian,Dick, Anne, George and Timmy, who spent decades investigating suspiciousforeigners and drinking lashings of ginger beer, will be seen reunitingin middle age to solve a new crime.
The Times also reported how a 12-year-old fan of the Pirates of theCaribbean movies smelled a rat after reading that Captain Jack Sparrow'sship would be moving to Torquay. Ross Winstanley was thrilled at theprospect of seeing a replica of the ship, the Black Pearl, as announcedin promotional literature. However, Ross realised immediately it was adifferent ship when he spotted the HMS Bounty. The ship's ownersapologised for the misunderstanding. The HMS Bounty actually appeared inthe 1962 film 'Mutiny on the Bounty' starring Marlon Brando.
