Celebrity chefs have called on the Government to ban junk food advertising during children's TV programmes. Supporters include Gary Rhodes, Raymond Blanc and Rick Stein, said the Independent.
The Herald reported that Scottish children are the UK's most prolific consumers of chips, crisps and fizzy drinks. Seventy per cent of seven-to 14-year-olds in Scotland have fizzy drinks at home - twice as many as in the south of England.
But the Daily Mail claimed a minority of diet-obsessed parents are taking healthy eating to extremes. It said children as young as nine have eating disorders after consuming too much 'pure' food lacking in essential nutrients and fats.
