More men please, but not at a higher price

I read with delight the 'In my view' by Richard Reeves ('More money for Barbie Bill', 12 April), which discussed how disappointing it is that we do not have enough male nursery nurses and assistants in our field of work. I have had the opportunity of working with at least five male co-workers in the past five years and have enjoyed every second of it. They have provided love, care, attention and education of the highest quality and I have never had to be concerned about their work or intentions.

They have also been able to give a special kind of 'feeling' (it is the only way to describe it) to the environment, one that does not need vast amounts of discipline. It seems that there is some kind of unwritten rule between the children and the male nursery nurse and assistant.
