Move on up

'I started the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Developing Skills for Early Years Practice last November and am due to finish in July. I wanted to move into midwifery but this seemed a hard training option as I have children aged six and three, and work part-time as a home carer for the elderly. When this particular award was suggested to me by Sure Start it seemed ideal as it provided the opportunity to study by attending evening classes at South Tynedale Middle School in Haltwhistle, Northumberland and gain experience each week through a placement in a daycare setting. The award provides a route into midwifery should I decide to pursue that path.

'The course is very thorough when it comes to areas such as health and safety in the environment and the provision of equal opportunities. It offers a wealth of insights into good practice and I am looking forward to applying these.
