MyPlace launched

Providing safe places for young people to take part in activities such as sport, dance and music was the aim of an initiative launched last week by Beverly Hughes, minister for Children, Young People and Families.

The 190m MyPlace scheme will offer young people an alternative tothe 'street corner' culture and safe places to learn new skills. The BigLottery Fund has been appointed to administer the scheme and awardgrants of up to 5m. Applications are open from 6 May, with thefirst round of grants expected to be announced inOctober.
