Nannies do a runner

Nannies were on the run this month when Helen Thomas (with hand up) and eight nanny friends from Chiswick, London, joined the Race for Life to raise money for cancer research. Having the fundraiser on Kempton Park racecourse helped to inspire the hundreds of runners who turned out, but the nannies still found time to horse around while raising a staggering Pounds 900 for charity. If you'd like to follow in their worthy footsteps, how about planning now to take part in a Toddle Waddle during Meningitis Awareness Week from 23 to 29 September? This annual event to raise funds for research into meningitis and support for those affected by it is organised by the Meningitis Trust and sponsored by the Tesco Toddler Club. In its past two years, nannies, childminders, nurseries, playgroups and families have waddled with young children in hundreds of sponsored toddles in their local area. Anyone wishing to register for a Toddle Waddle will receive a pack of goodies including balloons, stickers, posters and duck hats for the children, and any group raising over 300 will win a cuddly toy of the mascot Monty the Duck. For information phone 0845 120 4530 or see www.toddlewaddle.org.
