Nursery World - National Childminding Association

The first childminding network has been approved in Cumbria by the National Childminding Association under the Children Come First quality assurance scheme. The network in Copeland has 12 childminders offering 30 full-time places as well as wraparound care. Network co-ordinator Vivienne Halliday said her role included supporting parents and matching families with childminders, and the network has worked closely with colleagues in the early excellence network from Frizington Nursery and the Howgill Family Centre. Councillor Joan Stocker, cabinet spokeswoman for education, said, 'I am delighted that Copeland is the first area in Cumbria to offer a CCF network of childminders. Children and parents deserve high-quality, flexible childcare, and the network will ensure that the children cared for by Copeland's childminders receive the very best.'
