National standards for the regulation of childcare agencies

National standards for the regulation of childcare agencies are due to be published later this month. Agencies that were operating before 1 April 2003 were deemed to be registered with the Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care from that date, to enable the Commission to carry out regulatory functions such as investigating complaints and taking enforcement action. Childcare agencies will be required to register with the Commission before 1 October this year. The standards will be available on the websites of both the Commission, www.carecommission.com, and the Scottish Executive, www.scotland.gov.uk.
