National Sure Start Month

(Photograph) - Plans for National Sure Start Month in June went off with a bang last week as the annual event was officially launched by Sure Start minister Catherine Ashton. The Kids' Clubs Network, which is co-ordinating the month of activities taking place in England, said its name had been changed from National Childcare Month because the event will be much broader, aiming to involve everyone who provides services for early education, childcare, health and family support. Activities and open days around the country will celebrate the various options available to parents and families. The month is sponsored by the Government's new Sure Start Unit which oversees Sure Start, childcare and the early years in England.
