New literacy resources

Ransom Publishing has recently launched two new primary resources for whole-class literacy teaching, using interactive whiteboards as well as for traditional group or on-to-one work. The first, 'Living Phonics', is designed to teach children in Reception and KS1 the basics of reading and writing, including phonemes, graphemes and cursive handwriting. Pack One includes a handbook with lesson plans and worksheets and three CD-ROMS - a teacher's guide demonstrating phonics teaching, digital lessons for whole-class teaching and 'The Letter Detective', a lively CD-ROM for children to learn the alphabet and key digraphs.

The second new resource is the 'Rainbow Readers Interactive Pack', a set of 26 books and accompanying software which teach children to read by using each letter of the alphabet as the basis for a story. The self-contained stories are graduated in terms of vocabulary to cover the 200 high-frequency words defined in the NLS. These are complemented by the Rainbow Readers Interactive Books software. A single user licence for each resource is 179.99.
