New website for the National Playing Fields Association

Newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald launched a new website last week for the National Playing Fields Association (NPFA). Sir Trevor said, 'One great thing about this country has always been the open spaces available for children to play in. When we lose those, we lose something that is central to our national life.' The site, www.playing-fields.com, aims to help protect school playing fields from developers by giving members of the public the chance to alert the organisation when they learn of plans to build on fields in their area. NPFAchair Alison More-Gwyn said, 'There are always ways to fight back against the developers, and we will do whatever we can to help.'
