EYFS FOR PARENTS

The Pre-school Learning Alliance has published a series of six books,called First and Foremost, to help parents support their children in theEarly Years Foundation Stage The books explain how to apply the themesand principles of the EYFS to everyday life. Individual copies areavailable from www.pre-school.org.uk/shop, priced at 7.80 formembers and 9.75 for non-members. The full set costs 42.12and 52.65 respectively.

A SPORTING CHANCE

The Sport Relief 2008 campaign has joined forces with Sportacus and theLazytown brand to promote the event in early years settings. One childwho was helped by Sport Relief is five-year-old Giseli from Brazil(pictured below), who stars in the current campaign, and whose motherwas helped by Sport Relief donations to recover from illness and findwork. The campaign's website has posters and downloadable Powerpointsare available on the campaign website for settings to teach childrenabout Giseli's life through pictures and story-telling. There are alsomany Sportacus activities and fundraising ideas. All the resources areavailable free at www.sportrelief.com/schools/teach/early-years.
