Pirates ahoy

A request by one child to be dressed up like a pirate led to staff atEden Nursery in Carlisle organising their own Pirate Day. They helpedthe children to make treasure maps, walk a pretend plank and maketelescopes to look out for pirate ships.

Helping the hospice

Early Years Childcare in Lewes, East Sussex, held a week-long fundraiserlast month, making 1,604 for the local Chestnut Tree HouseChildren's Hospice. During the week the children made cakes, coastersand cards to sell, held a raffle, had a fancy dress party and took partin a sponsored walk. Deputy manager Bex Crees said, 'It was a greatweek. The children enjoyed all the different activities, and we raised ahuge amount of money for Chestnut Tree House in the process.'
