Green For a Day

Children from Chipmunk's room at Elvetham Heath Day Nursery, Fleet,Hampshire, dressed up in green for St Patrick's Day and snacked on greeniced fairy cakes sent in by a parent. Activities included messy playusing green flour, water and jelly, hand-painting shamrocks, decoratingshortbread with green icing and making leprechaun hats. Deputy nurserymanager Donna Martin said, 'Throughout the day the children were sayingthe word "green" whenever they saw that colour.'

Queen Mothers

Mothers were treated like royalty when children at the CA MontessoriChildren's Centre in Slough honoured them with a special Mother's Day docalled 'Queen for a Day'. Lesley Kidd, acting lead teacher, said, 'Allthe staff organised the event with great enthusiasm, making it a veryspecial day for the children and their mothers. The centre wastransformed into a castle, built and painted by the teachers, and we hadan impressive "throne" where parents could sit to have their photographtaken.'
