Nursery nurses offered training on meningitis

The Professional Association of Nursery Nurses, part of the Professional Association of Teachers, has teamed up with the National Meningitis Trust to offer meningitis seminars to members in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Tricia Pritchard, PANN professional officer, said, 'The Trust will provide speakers and give members talks on the basics - what to do in an emergency, how to spot the signs, and dispelling myths.'

PANN and the National Meningitis Trust have already offered seminars along these lines to members in England. 'People came in droves - there were members sitting on the windowsills,' Ms Pritchard said.

The first meningitis seminar in Scotland will be held at Scotland's first ever Early Years and Primary Teaching exhibition, sponsored by Nursery World, in Glasgow in September.
