Andrew Pearson, co-director of the nursery, which is part of Balby Children's Centre, said he had been determined to avoid the pitfalls that scuppered a Cumbria nursery's plans for 24-hour care last year. The Jumping Jacks children's centre in Wigton was told by Ofsted it would need to register as a children's home because it would be caring for children for more than 24 hours.
Mr Pearson said, 'We had to work very closely with Ofsted, who told us about the problems at Wigton. It took us about 18 months to get it right.
It was a case of finding the line you can go up to without falling into the children's home registration area.'
