Warm-up
* Take slow, deep breaths.
* Hum loud, long notes.
* Sing a favourite song. Remind the children how to make high and low sounds with their voices. This will help them identify changes in pitch when they come to use instruments.
Rhythm work
* Discuss the view from your nursery window. What can you see?
* Choose some of the things/scenes and chant them together, then child by child, around the group to create a variety of rhythms, for example, 'traffic lights, people, bus', 'flowers, trees, birds', and so on. Clap the rhythm of the words as you say them.
