The Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY) wants to hear from early years and childcare professionals in England and Wales for its annual sector-wide survey.

Launched today, the Building Blocks 2018 survey is open to all early years practitioners including childminders, nannies and pre-school staff.

It covers qualifications and training, working conditions, finances and future plans and seeks to find out the big issues facing the sector.

The results of the survey will form an in-depth report, published in the summer, aiming to push local authorities and Government for change.

PACEY’s third annual Building Blocks survey closes on Tuesday 8 May.

Liz Bayram, chief executive of PACEY, said, ‘This year’s Building Blocks survey comes at a critical point, as more children than ever become eligible for the 30-hour entitlement in England and the Childcare Offer in Wales.

'The survey provides a unique opportunity for all childcare and early years practitioners, whatever their setting, to tell us about their experience of working in the sector: what works and what doesn’t, what motivates and frustrates them. It provides a vital health check on the state of the sector.

‘We need to hear from the sector to really understand what is happening on the ground and push for change from Government and local authorities.’
